Matthew Smith's Senior Project

Home | What I learned | All About Robert Penrod | How To Contact Robert Penrod or Me

Welcome!

Hello. My name is Matthew Smith and I am a senior at North Star High School in Boswell, Pennsylvania. Here everyone is required to do a senior project that consists of 50 hours or more of documented community service. We can choose almost anything but it has to meet the criteria.
So for my senior project, I decided to work with Robert Penrod Contracting. I chose this because it relates with what I want to do when I get older.
Over the summer I learned alot of new things that I never knew. I learned how to order supplies, make invoices, make appointments, and how to bill the customers. I also learned how to accurately measure and record sizes for needed materials, cut materials down to size to fit, and how to connect pieces of piping and other materials together if they lengthened. In addition to the many things I learned, I also got to learn the danger of heavy machinery by getting to run a backhoe and several others.
In conclusion, I feel that I learned alot of information about this type business in a short time. I am not sure if this is the type of job that I want to go into as a career because it is very tedious at times, but overall it is very informative.
You will get to see more stuff about Robert E. Penrod Contracting as we look further into this website.
On this home page, you will see various bits of information about my senior project and my reasons for picking the construction business. There will also be pictures for you to view and descriptions of the pictures. Enjoy.
